Dark Matter Renewed For Season 2 at Apple TV+

The series stars Jennifer Connelly, Joel Edgerton, and Jimmi Simpson.

When The Amazing Spider-Man producer Matt Tolmach optioned the rights to Dark Matter, the plan was to bring the project to the big screen. According to Tolmach, it didn't take too long before he started to realize that he wanted more space to tell more of the book's story, which in turn led go pitching the adaptation as a TV show. Now, that faith has been rewarded: Apple TV+ has renewed the acclaimed series, based on the novel by best-selling author Blake Crouch, for a second season. The announcement comes on the heels of a crazy season one finale cliffhanger that would have left fans heartbroken if the show didn't come back.

In Dark Matter, Jason Dessen is abducted into an alternate version of his life; to get back to his true family, he embarks on a harrowing journey to save them from the most terrifying foe imaginable: himself. The first season is streaming in full now.

The series follows Jason Dessen (played by Edgerton), a physicist, professor and family man who — one night while walking home on the streets of Chicago — is abducted into an alternate version of his life. Wonder quickly turns to nightmare when he tries to return to his reality amid the mind-bending landscape of lives he could have lived. In this labyrinth of realities, he embarks on a harrowing journey to get back to his true family and save them from the most terrifying, unbeatable foe imaginable: himself.
