Some parents got a bit more than they bargained for when watching cartoons on Netflix, and now the company has pulled an episode because of it.

Netflix pulled an episode of its children’s cartoon Maya the Bee after someone spotted something drawn in the background of one particular sequence. The item in question turned out to be a penis, which was etched into the remnants of a tree, and as you can imagine, parents were not very happy with Netflix after they found out.

One mother in particular named Chey Robinson brought the matter to Facebook once she spotted it, and warned other parents about the image.

“Please be mindful of what your kids are watching,” Robinson said. “I did NOT edit any images whatsoever, this is Maya The Bee, Season 1, Episode 35. I know I’m not going crazy and I know that something like this shouldn’t be in a kids’ show whatsoever. I’m extremely disgusted by it, there should be no reason my kids have to see something like this. I don’t know if they’re gonna do something about this or what but there’s no reasons why this should be in this show.”

Since the image made the rounds on social media, Netflix has pulled that episode of the show, though they haven’t officially commented on the matter. It’s also not known if Netflix will edit the episode and bring it back to the service, though that will likely be the case.

To be fair, kids probably didn’t even notice this, hence why it took so long for the image to make the rounds. It doesn’t even compare to what kids see and hear at school either, but then that’s a conversation for another time. Regardless, Netflix really doesn’t want to have something like this on its resume either, so hopefully, the adventures of Maya the Bee can continue without any phallic symbols hovering around in the future.

The rest of the Maya the Bee, a series based on the original German children’s bookseries, can still be accessed on Netflix.
