This year’s Teen Choice Awards saw several comic book movies and television shows, as well as the actors who work on them, nominated for a number of awards.
Among the movie award nominees were Wonder Woman, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Logan, Doctor Strange, and The Lego Batman Movie. Not every one of those movies won, but representatives from both the DC and Marvel side of the aisle went home with awards under their belt.
As for television, there were plenty of comic book properties represented there as well. Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Gotham, Riverdale, and iZombie all had nominees competing in the television categories.
Riverdale may be the biggest winner of the evening. The series itself took home two major awards for its first season on The CW. Four of the show’s core cast members took home awards for their individual performances, and one of the show’s relationships was also given an award.
It should surprise no one that Wonder Woman continued to ride the wave of popularity its harnassed since it opened in June to win top honors in the favorite action movie category. Gal Gadot and Chris Pine missed out on the award for best movie couple, but they each won an award Favorite Action Movie Actor/Actress.
Marvel Studios had two big winners at the Teen Choice Awards. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 took home the prize for favorite Sci-Fi movie. Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana also missed out on the movie romance award, but Pine was named Favorite Action Movie actor for playing Star-Lord and Zoe Saldana was named Favorite Action Movie Actress for Playing Gamora.
