It would appear that Wanda Maximoff and Vision aren’t done throwing pain our way just yet. And honestly, we can’t say we aren’t excited for more of it, especially after Paul Bettany had his say at LACC.

After the conclusion of WandaVision, a lot of things were left up in the air—particularly where Vision himself was concerned. But it seems like we might finally get some answers in the show’s sequel, Vision Quest. Originally brought to life (sort of) in Avengers: Age of Ultron by the Mind Stone, Vision went on to find love and a life with Wanda Maximoff, who later had to endure the tragedy of watching him die not once, but twice. In an attempt to deal with this grief, we got the events of WandaVision, which concluded with the S.W.O.R.D creation, White Vision, taking off with the real Vision’s memory of his life with Wanda, likely including his time as a father to Billy and Tommy.
What Can We Expect From Vision Quest?

In true Marvel fashion, we really have no idea. Most things about the production have been kept incredibly tight-lipped. However, we do know that Terry Matalas, Star Trek: Picard’s executive producer, has been brought on as a showrunner for Vision Quest, which leaves us wondering about a potential lean into the more sci-fi elements of the story where magic is concerned.
At LACC during his panel with Elizabeth Olsen, when asked what might be a focus for Vision Quest, Bettany had this to say about the story: “It’s about intergenerational trauma…fathers and sons and denial of pain and denial of your own truth and coming to terms with who and what you are.” Sounds like a really fun time if you ask us! When asked about what makes the oft-quoted line from WandaVision, “What is grief, if not love persevering?” so special, Bettany expanded a bit further on the storytelling inherent to WandaVision and the narrative we may see in Vision Quest. He said that the line “Doesn’t play on me. The camera’s on Lizzie receiving it…receiving that line, and it’s actually what she does, I think, that makes…her receptiveness to that…those words, that makes the line iconic.”
Couple that with the knowledge that James Spader is reprising his role as Ultron, and that White Vision will likely reunite with Vision and Wanda’s sons, we can assume that we’re in for an emotional rollercoaster with Vision Quest.
