One of the greatest comeback stories in professional wrestling has to be Matt Hardy. The older of the Hardy Boyz had his career overshadowed by his brother Jeff’s championship wins and star appeal. When he left for Impact Wrestling (and eventually became their world champion) he soon reinvented himself as “Broken” Matt Hardy, a gimmick so ridiculous, it became embraced by wrestling fans for being so over the top, you couldn’t help but appreciate it.
Having won the Impact Wrestling Tag Team Championship for the second time, the Hardyz have been traveling through various other wrestling promotions, including the likes of Ring of Honor and starting feuds with popular tag teams like the Young Bucks.

Here’s the thing, though: it looks like the Hardys’ deal with Impact could be over very soon. Known wrestling journalist Dave Metzler has speculated that the Hardyz could be finished with the company in time for WrestleMania 33. It’s unclear on how they would be utilized if true, but with The New Day hosting the big event, it seems like a no-brainer to kickoff a rivalry of generations.
Of course, there’s always the chance of the brothers resigning with Impact and given the chance to continue their so-called Expedition of Gold. However, going into their 40’s now, it could be time to sign proper WWE Legends deals and return to the company that made them household names nearly 20 years ago.
