Iris West Actress Expresses Concern Over Departure Of The Flash Director

The DC cinematic universe recently pulled the curtain back on Patty Jenkin's Wonder Woman, but unfortunately, the studio hasn't had a ton of time to enjoy the labors of their work, as problems have surfaced with the Flash.

The Flash solo project was anticipated by many due to its director, the talented Rick Famuyiwa (Dope). Since he was announced for the project, the studio has started to build around Ezra Miller, who is playing Barry Allen in Zack Synder's Justice League. On Monday, Famuyiwa exited the project due to creative differences, and that has put up alarms all over the place.

That includes Kersey Clemons, who was brought on board to play the female lead, Iris West alongside Ezra. She recently expressed disappointment over Famuyiwa's sudden exit, as he was one of the primary reasons she joined the project in the first place (via THR).

"Rick was one of the main reasons I wanted to do the movie, so him not being a part of it is obviously very upsetting to me."

It isn't known what finally prompted him to leave The Flash solo project, as creative differences can mean a variety of things. Whether budget, casting or plot line related, it doesn't matter now, as the studio will need to find a replacement for him soon. Famuyiwa released a statement about his exit on Monday.

"I pitched a version of the film in line with my voice, humor, and heart. While it's disappointing that we couldn't come together creatively on the project, I remain grateful for the opportunity," the director in a statement to THR. "I will continue to look for opportunities to tell stories that speak to a fresh generational, topical and multicultural point of view."

As for Clemons, she is trying to take things in stride, saying "All I can do is give it up to the gods. Let's see what happens. Let's see who's going to jump in. Ezra and I are going to do what we promised to do from the beginning, no matter who the director is, I am going to do what I think Iris should be."

The Flash is slated to hit theaters on March 23, 2018.
