Warning! Spoilers for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations’ 23rd episode lie below!
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is nearly finished with its ‘Naruto Gaiden’ arc, but there is still one more episode to go. The anime will wrap the explosive storyline later this week, and a new synopsis for the finale teases one unexpected betrayal.
Scans of Boruto’s newest synopsis hit the Internet, and fans like Ken Xyro translated it into English for fans. You can read the summary of “The Shape Of Their Bonds” below:
“In order to save Sakura who was taken away by Shin, Naruto heads to Shin’s hideout with Sasuke, Sarada, and Cho-Cho. Sarada takes down Shin’s clones together with Sasuke. Can she rescue her mother by defeating Shin and get an answer about the mystery relating to her real mother?!
Attacks using the clones?! Shin limits Sasuke’s movements and then orders his clones to kill him. However, the clones react in a surprising behavior?!”
The synopsis doesn’t get too intriguing until its latter-half rolls around. The description says Shin Uchiha will immobilize Sasuke during battle and order his clones to kill the ninja, but something strange will happen instead. In true Naruto fashion, strange things are never a good sign when a character orders others to kill on their behalf, and manga readers can confirm the villain does get one pulled over him.
If you have read Naruto Gaiden, then you will know Shin winds up being betrayed by his own clones. After ordering the clones to kill Sasuke, they turn on their progenitor instead and tell Shin he has become tired and decrepit. The clones do go on to fight Naruto and Sarada, but they surrender after the Hokage gives the Sharingan users a taste of Kurama’s power. Despite Sasuke's uncertainty, Naruto allows the clones to live and places them in a Konoha orphanage that is run by Orochimaru's former pupil Kabuto.
