According to a Forbes story on The Avengers, Marvel has been "pleasantly surprised by the phenomenal response" to Mark Ruffalo's interpretation of the Incredible Hulk, and the result may be a new movie for the Jade Giant in 2015. If they do, it will be the third time that a feature film has been made based on the character in less than ten years, each with a different star in the lead role. That might fly in the face of what the studio has said previously about the property (to wit, that the character wouldn't have his own film but might guest-star in Iron Man 3)--but as we'll hear later in ComicBook.com's interview with Clark Gregg, Marvel Studios has figured out by now that sometimes you have to let things take on a life of their own and not be bound by what you expected going in. There's a lot of information in Forbes' story about corporate branding, most of which won't be interesting to comic book fans, but the article does identify a desire on the part of Marvel to turn The Avengers into a year-round brand that's not dependent on feature films to bolster its presence in the marketplace. It's worth noting that the article also reports there will be a new Avengers cartoon on Cartoon Network in 2013. Given that the Cartoon Network has a relationship with DC Entertainment, and there's already one Avengers cartoon on Disney XD (which, if canceled, is rumored to be replaced with another one), it's hard to imagine someone at Forbes didn't get their wires crossed, so take all of this with a grain of salt--there's no direct quote from a Marvel source about the movie or its prospective release date.
