Robert Downey Jr. Injured On Iron Man 3 Set

Production on Iron Man 3 has been "slightly delayed" following an accident on set which saw star Robert Downey, Jr. injure himself.

According to a statement released by Marvel Studios, "Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates."

It's somewhat surprising that with a minor injury to one actor, the whole production might be slowed, but with reportedly 2/3 of the film or more already in the can, perhaps there just aren't remaining scenes to be filmed that don't include Tony Stark or Iron Man.

Iron Man 3 is currently in production in North Carolina and will be in theaters on May 3, 2013.
