Warning: Minor spoilers ahead for Guardians of the Galaxy, in theaters now.

No, there isn't a new franchise being teased at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy.

During a Twitter Q&A sponsored by E! Online yesterday, director James Gunn faced questions from fans about the post-credits teaser or "tag" at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, his new Marvel film that hit theaters yesterday.

Unsurprisingly, his response came that the tag shouldn't be read too much into. It isn't setting up the next big Marvel franchise.

Most fans had assumed as much but some, presumably because Marvel have used virtually every end-credits tag since the start of their shared universe to tease the next movie coming down the pike, had speculated about the possibility of a Howard the Duck reboot after that character showed up briefly in the tag.

Guardians of the Galaxy is in theaters now. Howard the Duck, against all odds, is available on Blu-ray.
