During his press tour for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, actor Stephen Amell has, as you might expect, been asked a bunch of times what superhero he might want to play in the movies. Usually, he just says "Green Arrow," his character from TV, but when somebody is clever enough to close that road, what's Amell's choice?

"I always get this question," Amell told an interviewer from CinemaPop, as seen above. "I think all the superheroes are taken now. I'll play The Riddler, okay? It's a villain, but I like The Riddler."

This isn't the first time he's used The Riddler as an answer for this question: While taking part in a panel at Nerd HQ at San Diego Comic-Con International back in 2014, Amell was asked what supervillain he would like to play.

With no hesitation, Amell answered, "The Riddler. I think I actually said that to Geoff Johns at like 2 o'clock in the morning Saturday. 'Hey, Geoff, I want to play the Riddler.' That actually happened."

Of course, by now, we've seen the new Batman -- and we've heard rumors that the Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns-penned Batman solo film will feature a lot of the Dark Knight's villains.

"The Riddler, I mean that's an awesome villain, and it hasn't been in the modern…well, I guess modern, post-turn-of-the-century versions of Batman. So that would be cool," Amell said back in 2014.

There's no official word on when a Ben Affleck-fronted Batman solo movie will come, but there's a lot of talk that given positive reception to his performance in Batman V Superman, that film's box office take, and Affleck's age, they might try and get it together fairly quickly. Affleck is expected to direct the film, which he's reported to be co-writing with DC's Johns.

Arrow Season 5 will premiere in October. It airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
