It looks like Dolph Lundgren is headed to Star City in the fifth season of Arrow.
The '80s superstar, best known for roles like Rocky IV, Universal Soldier, and The Expendables, will return to TV to play the head of the Bratva (Russian mob) in the flashback sequences for Arrow's fifth season.
According to showrunner Marc Guggenheim, this is the last year that there will be flashbacks, so presumably at the end of the season, Oliver's rescue from Lian Yu will be reflected.
It isn't clear whether the flashbacks will tie directly into the current-day storyline. Fans have long hoped to see more about Oliver's time with the Bratva. When the storyline was reflected in then-modern stories in the second and third seasons, it involved Anatoli Knyazev, known to comic book readers as the KGBeast -- a character who recently played a pivotal role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
After a season dealing with magic and larger-than-life plans to end the world, Arrow will reportedly return to its street-level roots in Season Five. Some of the familiar faces are gone, but we're getting Wild Dog and Vigilante, at least, and we know that at some point Colton Haynes's Roy Harper will be paying a visit.
Arrow will return to The CW on October 5th for its Season 5 premiere.
