Despite being one of the best superhero movies of the year and making a ridiculous amount of money at the box office, Wonder Woman is not above getting a little bit of criticism. And finally the crew at How It Should Have Ended put Diana of Themyscira’s successful film through the wringer.
But while the HISHE video for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice managed to skewer some of the most ridiculous aspects of that film’s confrontation and climax, the parts it dwells on for Wonder Woman are mostly pretty tame. Check out the clip above.
It starts out with a humorous rendition of the new DC Films title card before referencing the Lasso of Truth, Disney’s Moana, Wonder Woman's lack of clothes, Wolverine, and the fact that Diana can hide a sword in her dress at a party of military officers without anyone noticing.
It then pokes fun at Steve Trevor’s sacrifice when he hijacks the plane loaded with Dr. Poison’s face-melting hydrogen bombs. Right when he’s about to pull the trigger and blow himself up along with the chemicals, he sees a parachute strapped to the wall of the plane.
Seems pretty unnecessary to go down with the ship at that point, but hey! It worked in the moment.
The video then offers the “How It REALLY Should Have Ended” segment, featuring Diana busting out her invisible jet and blowing up the plane before it gets the chance to reach its destination. We can’t help but agree, Wonder Woman really suffered from the lack of invisible plans.
The video then ends with a refreshing change of pace as Batgirl and Supergirl join Wonder Woman for coffee and discuss her movie, chastising the male-dominated superhero movies for their need to make everything so grim and gritty. Of course Batman has to show up and add a few jokes, but at that point the video begins to overstay its welcome.
Stay tuned until the end for a funny take on the naked watch scene from Wonder Woman, as well as a tease at Adam Warlock for the future.
Wonder Woman is now available on Digital HD and hits Blu-ray and DVD on September 19.
