Ever since the cancellation (or maybe not) of its Scalebound project for the Xbox One, fans have been wondering what the game's developer, Platinum Games, has been up to.

Along with updates for its hit NieR: Automata for PlayStation 4 and PC, along with the re-release of Bayonetta and the forthcoming Vanquish for PC, the team has confirmed that it's working on something new – but it's not ready to say what it is just yet.

According to DualShockers, the team's producer, Atsushi Inaba, noted during a keynote address at BitSummit that the team is working on a new project, a "formless, shapeless IP". He didn't disclose exactly what that meant, but, safe to say, it's something entirely new in the company's line-up. So, no, not quite the Bayonetta 3 that people have been wanting, but at least it's going to be interesting all the same.

He did make note that the project would have an all-new director, but, again, stayed rather cryptic when it came to talking about who it was.

This follows up the company's previous appearance at BitSummit last year, when it noted that there was a new IP that it was looking to work on. But there's still no official announcement on that just yet.

Inaba also noted that he's not sure if the company will continue to make just one game a year. It seems it wants to keep its concentration on one project at a time – something that put Scalebound in enough flux to supposedly get cancelled by Microsoft. (We say supposedly because of the possible rumors regarding its return, maybe as soon as next month at E3.)

"We used to have the idea that we wanted to be a studio that only made 100 percent original games," Inaba noted. "However, it turns out that only doing that is considerably difficult, and so now we take on various work."

We'll let you know once the team makes any sort of official announcement. For now, it appears that NieR: Automata and finishing work on the Vanquish port for PC are the only things on the company's plate officially. (But at least they're both worth checking ou
