The cannibalistic monsters of Attack on Titan are returning to video games once again.

Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have worked on a number of Warriors franchises over the years, but there's no question that one of the team's better games was Attack On Titan. First released in 2016, the game was a colossal hit, allowing you to systematically bring down Titans with a number of warriors, while fighting within a superb open-world environments.

There's more where that came from, it seems. This morning, Koei Tecmo announced that it was hard at work on the follow-up, aptly named Attack On Titan 2. The game is set for release in 2018, and although platforms weren't announced, it's likely to come out for the same systems – Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

The first teaser trailer for the game can be seen above, and while there's not too much of a glimpse at gameplay just yet, it will probably follow the formula of the original where you take on behemoths and other foes with the help of a large range of characters.

It appears that the game will follow the events of the second season of the anime series, which just concluded broadcasting earlier this summer. It also appears there will be new things about the Titans that you'll need to learn, as they have apparently adapted to the combat style that you brought in the original game. Again, it's too soon to tell just what these elements are, but it never hurts to get prepared for the fight that lies ahead.

The trailer really sets the tone for the dramatic adventure ahead in the sequel, as you'll no doubt see characters get sacrificed as the battle against the Titans continues. Here's hoping we get some great challenges, including the ability to maybe even take on a few Titans at once.

We'll bring you more information on Attack On Titan 2 as it becomes available. The original Attack On Titan is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
