Final Fantasy XV has had an extremely successful run so far with the latest Final Fantasy game, and game director Hajime Tabata says that they plan on supporting the game during 2018.

Tabata spoke during an Active Time Report at Tokyo Game Show to discuss the future of Final Fantasy XV while addressing players' feedback about the game. in light on ongoing content, Final Fantasy fans have urged Tabata and Square Enix to continue producing DLC and expansions for the game, and they seem happy to oblige.

Speaking at the conference, Tabata indicated that they do indeed plan to follow up with more content after releasing Episode Ignis, DLC that was expected to be the final addition to the game, rounding out the stories of Noctis and his three teammates. While the background of the core members of Noctis' party has been taken care of with the upcoming Episode Ignis, the next couple of DLC additions will continue to build on the success of the previous installations by reinforcing the Final Fantasy XV story.

"Not only are we further investigating characters through additional episodes, if we don't convey the setting that is the foundation of the world, we won't be able to convey the characters' way of life," Tabata said during the Tokyo Game Show proceedings.

This isn't the first time that Tabata has mentioned expanding their content beyond the original scope of development, but it is more of a definite stance from the game director that'll reassure Final Fantasy fans. The game hasn't been a hit with some who prefer the typical structure of the series' games, but it's still been a resounding success so far.

As far as what content will be included in future DLC, it's been suggested in the past that some of the other characters in the game might have their stories explored, lesser characters that don't make up Noctis' main party but still exist in his inner circle. All of those bonus additions will also launch for the PC version that releases in early 2018.
