Mount is one of two leads cast in the new ABC series. The other is Game of Thrones alum Iwan Rheon as Maximus the Mad, Black Bolt’s brother.
“Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently,” said Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television and executive producer on Marvel’s The Inhumans. “His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”
“Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life,” added showrunner and executive producer, Scott Buck.

Marvel Television and ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has been dealing with Inhumans through most of its four seasons, but Marvel’s The Inhumans will focus on Marvel’s most popular Inhuman characters, the Inhuman Royal Family.
As king of the Inhumans, Blackagar Boltagon is the leader of the Royal Family and the entire Inhuman people. Terrigenesis bestowed upon Black Bolt a voice that can level a mountain or destroy a city with just a whisper. As such, he rules silently, a trait that will carry over into the television series.
Black Bolt traditionally has the aid of his wife, Queen Medusa, to translate his silent commands to others. Medusa is expected to appear in Marvel’s The Inhumans, but has not yet been cast.

Roel Reine will direct the first two episodes, which will debut in IMAX theaters on Labor Day weekend before airing on ABC in the fall.
The Inhumans were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the pages of Fantastic Four during the early days of the Marvel Universe. The secretive civilization was genetically engineered by the alien Kree during Earth’s pre-history. The Inhumans have mostly lived in seclusion in the city of Attilan, which periodically relocates to different areas on Earth and sometimes to the moon. More recently, the creation of two roving Terrigen Mist clouds have caused a sudden surge in Inhuman population and forced the Royals to leave the shadows and begin integrating with human society.
