WWE Adds Flair Back To Charlottes Name

Most fans who happen to go to a WWE show are quite familiar with the legacy aspect of Charlotte's character, so much so that at one point she seemed to distance herself from using that as a character crutch by kicking her father Rick Flair to the curb. Now it seems she's finally ready to embrace her famous name.

On the most recent Monday Night Raw, general manager Mick Foley addressed Charlotte as Charlotte Flair, which some assumed was a one off, but since has been officially added to the WWE website (via CageSideSeats). Charlotte has never been shy about implementing Flair mannerisms or traits into her character, but at one point she seemed to feel it was overshadowing her skill in the ring.

It's safe to say those fears have been put to rest, as she's proven an incredibly effective heel, and has gone on to win the Women's Championship not once but twice. She's even co-headlining Hell in a Cell with fellow superstar Sasha Banks, who are the first women to headline a pay-per-view event since the Trish Stratus and Lita days. That fact wasn't lost on Foley either, as he reflected on the monumental moment in a recent Facebook post.

"Forget for a moment about Stephanie McMahon's jumping high-five or my awkward attempt to hug the #RAW Commissioner. The biggest moment of the night for us came when the #WWE cameras were off, and Stephanie and I just looked at the #HIAC poster, realizing that for #WomensWrestling, history is upon us - as Sasha Banks and Charlotte will main event the #HIAC PPV. I am so happy for Sasha, for Charlotte, for all the women who paved the way, and all those who aspire to follow in their footsteps. It is no exaggeration to say that looking at that poster gave me chills...and they were multiplying."

Charlotte has long since passed the point where she has to worry about her last name overshadowing her accomplishments, and fans have accepted her for the talented wrestler she is. She can proudly represent her iconic last name and still be her own person, leaving a legacy in WWE altogether her own.
