Overnight ratings estimates for Constantine saw the DC Comics adaptation dip about 20% in last night's midseason premiere, as opposed to the last new episode on December 17.

The series pulled in 3.08 million viewers and earned a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating at 8 p.m., down from its last original's 1.0 adults 18-49 rating, which aired at 10 p.m.

The series had seen its ratings rise nearly every week since the second episode at the 10 p.m. time slot, and with studio management liking the actual content even if they didn't love the numbers, cryptic assurances that the show wasn't dead yet have led to a hashtag campaign and other organized efforts online to call attention to the series.

Showrunner Daniel Cerone wants fans to keep it up.

"No secret Constantine took a hit at 8 pm," Cerone tweeted tonight. "Sigh. Many possibilities for future. All depend on viewers. Keep watching & sharing your passion."

By "possibilities, he could mean that he's willing to shop the property around to other networks. Fans have frequently asked about this (or Netflix/Hulu/Amazon) as a way to keep the show alive, since 3 million-plus viewers is actually pretty solid provided you aren't on network TV.

"Too early to discuss scenarios," Cerone wrote back to fans asking about moving the show someplace like The CW. "We're partners with NBC till they say otherwise."

That said, Cerone did tell ComicBook.com, back when the episode order was capped at 13, leaving four scripts unproduced, that one way or another, those stories would come out.

Constantine airs Friday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
