That’s for the eighteenth episode, which the site reports will “unleash on Central City a bee-a-utiful tech wizard who rocks oversized shades and red lipstick… and has devised a clever-slash-amoral-slash-wildly unstable scheme to weaponize bee-sized ‘bots.”
Speculation immediately went to Justice League villain Queen Bee, but Red Bee seems more likely; her costume incorporates sunglasses-like lenses, whereas Queen Bee’s does not, and the mention of the red lipstick…it feels like they’re trying to steer speculation.
In Queen Bee’s favor is the fact that she’s connected to H.I.V.E., an ongoing threat in an Arrow subplot.
The bug-sized weapons sound like it could be a good foe for Ray “The Atom” Palmer. Too bad he’s on Arrow instead…
…Wait, aren’t he and Felicity Smoak are guest-starring on The Flash, in an episode titled “All-Star Team-Up,” as we reported previously?
And isn’t that Episode 18?
“The STAR Labs team is going to help Ray further his ATOM project,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said at the time.
When Barry Allen visited Arrow in 2013, he left town having given Oliver Queen his first mask. When Team Flash visited in 2014, Cisco redesigned Arrow’s costume.
And don’t forget that old Marc Guggenheim quote:
“My instinct is that if Ray Palmer’s going to shrink, he’ll probably shrink on another show. With The Flash in existence, there’s no real compelling reason for us to do super powers on Arrow. We can bring characters to Flash to have super powers.”
Hmm. Could they be planning to do just that?
