Previously, ComicBook.com reported on a casting call put out for 20th Century Fox’s upcoming Deadpool movie, under the working title “WHAM!”
For the most part, the descriptions given in the casting call text are fairly generic, making them hard to decipher at first glance. We’ve looked them over and put some thought into what they say and what we know about Deadpool, both in comics and the film project itself, so far.

Here’s who we think these casting call descriptions might be describing.
Ridge = Garrison Kane (Weapon X)
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has already teased pretty heavily that Garrison Kane would be making an appearance in the Deadpool movie, and “dangerous, violent, vain, insecure and more than a bit of a dick” all describe Kane pretty well, as does his cold, uncaring manner. Kane’s ties to the Weapon X Program also set up a history with Wade Wilson, and possibly puts some other casting notes into perspective.
Lindsay = Copycat
Every hero needs a romantic interest, right? Vanessa Carlyle is that person for Deadpool. Carlyle, a.k.a. Copycat, is a mutant shapeshifter who was in love with Wade Wilson prior to his cancer Diagnosis. Wade breaks up with her after he finds out about the cancer, but the two meet later down the line, when Copycat becomes part of the crime and espionage game, eventually being captured by Weapon X.
Copycat later goes on to impersonate Domino for about the first year of X-Force’s existence, so if you’re looking for ties to the larger X-Men movie universe or hints about the rumored X-Force spinoff movie, she’s one. Want another? Her boss in crime was Tolliver, eventually revealed to be Cable’s son, Genesis.
Simon = Weasel
Yet another tie to Tolliver is Weasel. Weasel, real name Jack Hammer, was a genius college student turned information broker working for Tolliver. When Deadpool eventually found himself also working for Tolliver, he and Weasel became friends. Weasel was still largely self-serving though, so we can definitely see him pulling the old “you don’t trust him, but he pulls it out for you in the end” schtick.
Shirlie = Blind Al
I would find it hard to believe this characterย description is meant for anyone but Blind Al. In the Marvel Comics universe, Blind Al is a UK intelligence agent and war hero who foughtย alongside Captain America (who will obviously be left out of her origin in Deadpool) during the war in Europe. Eventually, she becomes a bit of a troublemaker, and Deadpool is hired to take her out. He spares her and kills everyone else at the base where she’s stationed instead, thus beginning an unusual kind of friend/mentor/hostage situation.
Kathy = Marrow
This one was a little more difficult to suss out. At first, precocious X-Force member Boom Boom came to mind, but then I remembered that Angel Dust has already been cast in the movie and is herself a Morlock. So, if one Morlock, why not more?
Marrow, a child of ’90s X-Men comics if there ever was one, is a hard-ass young woman who can spawn and throw bone blades from her body. He disenfranchised ’90s youth personality also totally fits the “sarcastic” and “droll” character description.
Keren = Caliban
At first we thought this might be Gina Carano as Angel Dust, but some digging revealed that they’re actually looking for a male in the role. We’re suggesting another big, tough Morlock for this role in Caliban. With only a tough guy description to go on, it’s hard to pin down, but the Morlock connection makes him stand out, and the fact that he’s a former Horseman of Apocalypse and member of X-Force in the comics gives him potential connections elsewhere in the X-Men film universe.
Albert = Sluggo
About as generic a description as you can give, we’re betting on Sluggo for this one. Sluggo is another Weapon X subject who teams up with Kane in the comics, and he fits the age and build description. He might not amount to much more than hired muscle in the movie, but it make sense if that’s what Kane needs.
Deadpool opens in theaters February 12, 2016.
