In an interview regarding the teasers, it was revealed that there would be a controversial, all-new Hulk when the new books revealed?
Who could this new Hulk be? I don’t know.
Here’s what we do know. We know that this Hulk won’t come from out of the blue as Marvel Editor In Chief, Axel Alonoso mentioned that “the development is deeply rooted in story” and one that “Bruce Banner fans will definitely want to read.”
That could mean really anyone from Hulk’s supporting cast, although in recent years there’s not very many who haven’t already been turned into some shade of Hulk. Betty Ross, Thunderbolt Ross, and Rick Jones all fall into that category.
Could it be someone with Hulk like powers who we haven’t seen in a while? Paging Doctor Samson. Or what if the new Hulk is a former adversary? The Leader? Or Abomination? On a panel taking place during Special Edition NYC 2015, Marvel PR guru Chris D’Lando dropped an interesting tidbit about Maestro, the future Hulk, by saying “The Maestro will be super important to some cool stuff happening after Secret Wars.”
The only other clue is that Marvel has continuously said that Secret Wars is seeding the new Marvel. Perhaps there’s a clue in the Planet Hulk series, where Steve Rogers is adventuring in the land of the Hulks. Maybe he’ll come out the other side of the universe as a Hulk himself?
We’ll have to wait until All-New Marvel begins this fall to find out for sure.
