WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend, Virgil Runnels, aka “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes has passed away at the age of 69, the WWE has reported.

Rhodes was a cornerstone of the Jim Crockett promotion and the NWA in the seventies and eighties before leaving for the WWE briefly in the early nineties. He is only one of six men inducted into the WWE, WCW, Professional Wrestling and Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame. He is a multi-time World Champion, as well as United States, Television, and Tag Team. He later became a trainer for the WWE in addition to a road agent as well as a backstage talent.

His legacy is survived by his sons, Dusty and Cody, as well as decades of matches and rivalries that truly are a one of a kind.
