It seems like Batman may not survive the see the end of Batman: Arkham Knight, or at least that seems to be what Jim Gordon thinks. A new TV commercial for the game opens with Gordon delivering the line, “This is how the Batman died.”

Now, the Arkham series does have a bit of a history with killing off major characters, most notably the Joker in Arkham City. However, just because Gordon thinks Batman is dead doesn’t mean he is. He’s been believed dead on numerous occasions before, including the ending of The Dark Knight Rises. The point it that the struggle in Arkham Knight is so great that Gordon could actually believe that Batman died in the conflict.
