Star Wars: Rogue One Set To Cast Forest Whitaker

Star Wars: Rogue One has reportedly cast Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whitaker for next year's Star Wars anthology film.

If brought onboard the film, Whitaker would join Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, and Ben Mendelsohn in the standalone Star Wars film. It will tell the story of the rebel fighters who stole the Galactic Empire's Deathstar blueprints just prior to Stars Wars Episode IV: A New Hope's events.

Whitaker's role is unknown at this time, and Lucasfilm and Disney provided to comment.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, Star Wars: Rogue One opens on December 16, 2016.
