Possible SPOILERS follow.

Up until now, the leading theory has been that The Joker (Jared Leto) will be the villain the Suicide Squad is sent after, likely after he escapes from wherever Amanda Waller had him imprisoned.

The new rumor being reported by Heroic Hollywood suggests this is not the case, and that the Suicide Squad is in fact formed to take down the Enchantress (Cara Delevingne).

The rumor, which HH stresses is unconfirmed, suggests that Enchantress goes insane with magical power following the death of her brother. She then sets off to perform a ritual to resurrect her brother, which could end up destroying the world if the Squad doesn’t stop her.

While the details differ, a similar basic plotline was used in the opening story arc of Justice League Dark. In that story, the Enchantress went insane after being separated from her host body, June Moone, and the supernaturally gifted Justice League Dark was formed to stop her.

The rumor does make some sense. As noted in the HH article, Enchantress is never seen alongside the other Squad members in the trailer, suggesting she’s not part of the team.

Similarly, Jared Leto wasn’t seen alongside his co-stars during the filming of Suicide Squad. Perhaps this is because the Joker’s screen time is limited to flashbacks telling Harley Quinn’s origin story and the car sequence with Batman.
