While on the screens big and small many Marvel characters are kept apart, in the pages of Marvel Comics, they can interact to their hearts’ content. With the dawning of All New, All Different Marvel, the latest line-wide set of relaunches and new storylines, many characters have been shuffled around, with teams mixed up and new alliances being forged.

And yes, that means that Deadpool is now an Avenger.
In the pages of Avengers #0, the merc with the mouth officially became the Avenger with attitude, getting an Avengers ID card and full security clearance from none other than Steve Rogers. Rogers and Deadpool have a recent history, including a heck of a team-up (with Wolverine, too) that was followed up after Rogers was aged several decades instantly. The old man sees something in Wade Wilson he rarely sees in himself – a true hero.
The short story, by Gerry Duggan, Ryan Stegman, and Richard Isanove, serves as a lead-in to Uncanny Avengers #0. It features some of the most heart-warming interior monologue for Deadpool, which naturally makes us nervous that something horrible is going to happen to him soon. It also introduces the fact that mutants are now getting ill due to the Terrigen Mists of the Inhumans, counting Rogue among the victims.
