It’s almost here. After months of waiting, the first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released tonight to some pretty intense fanfare. The long-awaited clip will premiere on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and a brief teaser for the footage debuted yesterday. The special clip showed Peter Parker being gifted an upgraded suit from Tony Stark a la Happy Hogan, leaving fans excited about Iron Man’s role in the film. With just a handful of hours to go until the Homecoming trailer drops, fans are now wondering if they will get to see Tony suit up in the anticipated trailer.

But will it happen? Honestly, it could go either way.
Fans learned that Robert Downey Jr. would be involved with Homecoming earlier in the year, and set photos have teased the character will have a direct relationship with Queen’s vigilante. Perhaps acting as a mentor, Tony Stark will likely be seen on more than one occasion gifting Peter hi-tech gear or even advice on how to be a superhero. In the film’s recent teaser, Peter can be seen opening a briefcase from Tony that contains an upgraded Spider-Man suit with classic webbed wings, and the hero seems plenty grateful for the gift.
However, there is no guarantee that Tony will suit up as Iron Man in Homecoming. Fans do know the film will feature a slew of villains, so there is a chance the superhero will step in to help Spider-Man out in battle if he gets overwhelmed. Michael Keaton is set to play the Vulture while Bokeem Woodbine and Logan Marshall-Green have been cast as villains as well. If the three baddies go against Spider-Man at once, the vigilante may require some assistance from the armored Avenger.
If Iron Man were to fight alongside Spider-Man, fans would be more than happy to see the two go all-out. The pair were not seen directly fighting together in Captain America: Civil War aside from when Spider-Man was introduced to Team Cap, so there are plenty of people who want to see them tag-team. However, the desired team-up could overshadow Spider-Man’s solo debut since Iron Man is such a recognize hero; Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures may want to hold off on the pairing until Peter Parker can stand on his own.
If Iron Man is going to suit up in Homecoming, it would make sense for Marvel Studios to tease the team-up now. The announcement will get fans hyped for the film and start fan-casting their ultimate showdowns for the superhero duo.
