Five More DC Women We Want To See In Gotham City Sirens

When Harley Quinn comes back to the big screen, it looks like she won’t have the Suicide Squad beside her (at least this time), but a pair of badass antiheroines in the form of Poison Ivy and Catwoman.

The trio are collectively known as the Gotham City Sirens — at least for marketing purposes. They had a comic together under that name and now, apparently, will appear together in a feature film sharing the title.

(No relation to Sirens, the Gotham City bar owned and operated by a pair of stone-cold crazy women on Gotham.)

Of course, it’s entirely possible that the movie will center on just those three, but let’s be honest: a superhero team-up movie with only three characters is borderline unheard-of. The last time that happened was…what — Batman & Robin? Which was never a good look on Poison Ivy.

So, like you do, we had a little fun putting together a list of five other badass DC heroes and antiheroes who might fit in well with the dynamic of the team.

Read on, and let us know if we missed your favorite in the comments below!

BARBARA GORDON

Whether as Batgirl or as Oracle, we don’t really care: we want to see Barbara Gordon make her way to the big screen.

Hell, going back to the Batman and Robin debacle again, we even had a Batgirl and still never got Barbara.

One of the most fully-developed, interesting women in mainstream comics, Barbara Gordon has appeared in live action before — on the short-lived Birds of Prey series on The CW — but the time has come to see her step up in a big way and provide the kind of strong, guiding voice for Gotham’s superhero set that we know she can.

MANHUNTER

Kate Spencer is not the first person to use the name “Manhunter,” but she’s the one who would fit in best with the Gotham City Sirens crew.

(So much so that for a while, she was a backup feature in their comic!)

A district attorney who stole superhero and supervillain tech from the evidence locker in order to become a vigilante when she lost her faith in the justice system, Kate Spencer would be a great challenge — or ally — to a group of morally ambiguous characters like the three we’ve been teased with so far.

SPOILER

The anti-Robin, Stephanie Brown is a heroine whose dad was a supervillain…before she decided that she wanted to make Gotham a better place. This could be a great way to tie in some larger Gotham mythology and introduce a great character to casual viewers.

LADY SHIVA

One of the most dangerous women on the planet, Lady Shiva is one of the few people in the world who can go toe to toe with Batman and win about half the time in a fair fight.

She also helped to train him and, while we keep expecting her to pop up on Arrow, it looks like her role is going to Talia Head…so  maybe it’s time for Lady Shiva to make her way to a different screen?

THE HUNTRESS

Like so many Suicide Squad characters, this is a person who has appeared on Arrow and would likely have to be taken off the board for TV before she could make her way to the movies, but she really, really fits in here.

Huntress is more a straight hero…but she’s one who doesn’t take any crap, and whose methods and motivations sometimes bring her into conflict with Batman. We saw a little of that on Arrow.

She’s also got a long history with characters like Dick Grayson, Batman, and Barbara Gordon…as well as some ties to Catwoman from the Birds of Prey days.

Bring on the Bertinelli!
