One of the most underappreciated aspects in all of cinema is the musical score accompanying each action packed moment and emotional beat. Without the impressive artistic work of composers, many moments of heartbreak or joy would go without emphasis on the big screen.

This year, five composers are nominated for vastly different works in the soundscape of comic book movies. Deadpool‘s deadpan humor and intense action sequence were accompanied by Junkie XL‘s intense soundtrack. The same composer was joined by Hans Zimmer for an iconic effort on Batman v. Superman. Friends fought friends to the emotional, yet heroic sounds of Captain America: Civil War‘s score. Doctor Strange borrowed themes from LOST and Rogue One‘s leading musician and X-Men: Apocalypse put in an effort to save the world.
The nominees for Best Score in the 2016 ComicBook.com Movie Awards are:
- Henry Jackman, Captain America: Civil War
- Michael Giacchino, Doctor Strange
