20th Century Fox’s Deadpool has set its sights on an Academy Award nomination. To prove that it’s taking all of this seriously, a new “For Your Consideration” ad has been released by studio. It features Ryan Reynolds narrating and listing off some of the film’s highlights, such as “4 pairs of assless chaps,” “12 humiliating minutes on a casting couch,” “7 magical unicorns,” “3 good walls and a 4th that’s broken.”

Aside from the technical categories โ such as Makeup, Sound, Visual Effects, and Art Direction โ and a too brilliant to be ignored performance from Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, box office-pleasing comic book movies are usually ignored by presitigous award shows. However, Deadpool is once again defying the odds.
The R-rated superhero movie kicked off awards season by snagging two Golden Globe nominations: one for Best Picture and Ryan Reynolds received the other for Best Actor. It didn’t win either category on Sunday, but its star delivered the most talked about moment when he played tonsil hockey with former Spider-Man Andrew Garfield.
Additionally, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are nominated for a Writer’s Guild Award, director Tim Miller is nominated for a Director’s Guild Award, and the Producer Guild Awards announced that Simon Kinberg, Ryan Reynolds, Lauren Shuler Donner are nominated for their Darryl F. Zanuck Award.
Hold onto your chimichangas, folks. From the studio that brought you all 3 Taken films comes DEADPOOL, the block-busting, fourth-wall-breaking masterpiece about Marvel Comics’ sexiest anti-hero: me! Go deep inside (I love that) my origin story…typical stuff…rogue experiment, accelerated healing powers, horrible disfigurement, red spandex, imminent revenge. Directed by overpaid tool Tim Miller, and starring God’s perfect idiot Ryan Reynolds, Ed Skrein, Morena Baccarin, T. J. Miller and Gina Carano, DEADPOOL is a giddy slice of awesomeness packed with more twists than my enemies’ intestines and more action than prom night. Amazeballs!
