When his younger brother, Georgie Denbrough, is murdered by Pennywise, a shape-shifting monster that often takes the form of a clown, Bill Denbrough (Jaeden Lieberher) convinces six of his friends — Ben Hanscom (Jeremy Ray Taylor), Beverly Marsh (Sophia Lillis), Richie Tozier (Finn Wolfhard), Eddie Kaspbrak (Jack Dylan Grazer), Mike Hanlon (Chosen Jacobs), and Stanley Uris (Wyatt Oleff) — to band together to fight the malevolent creature. They name themselves The Losers’ Club.

As for the film’s rating? “It is a rated-R movie,” producer Dan Lin confirmed to Collider, while promoting The LEGO Batman Movie. “If you’re going to make a “Rated-R movie”, you have to fully embrace what it is, and you have to embrace the source material. It is a scary clown that’s trying to kill kids. So of course that’s going to be a rated-R movie. The kids are amazing. You very much get a Stand by Me vibe as far as their camaraderie and the way they joke with each other and that they really care for each other. They do have a scary clown that’s taken over the town of Derry, so it’s going to be rated R.”
In a small town in Maine, seven children known as The Losers’ Club come face to face with life problems, bullies, and a monster that takes the shape of a clown called Pennywise.
The cast features Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise, Javier Botet as The Leper, Jaeden Lieberher as Bill Denbrough, Jeremy Ray Taylor as Ben Hanscom, Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh, Finn Wolfhard as Richie Tozier, Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie Kaspbrak, Chosen Jacobs as Mike Hanlon, Wyatt Oleff as Stanley Uris, Nicholas Hamilton as Henry Bowers, Owen Teague as Patrick Hockstetter, and Logan Thompson as Victor Criss.
The film, which is based on Stephen King‘s 1986 horror novel of the same name, is being directed by Mama-helmer, Andrés Muschietti.
