Following the success of Wonder Woman, Hollywood could be ready to pursue a full-on superheroine revolution. Just a couple weeks back, Warner Bros. saw Diana of Themyscira enter theaters for her first live-action standalone. The feature has gone on to become one of DC Entertainment‘s most praised films, prompting fans to ask for more female heroes. Marvel will see some of its heroines hit theaters in the coming years, but Warner Bros. has no plans on slacking.

After all, if you were to ask the co-heads of the DC Films division, then they will tell you they have big plans for its female superheroes.

Recently, Geoff Johns and Jon Berg did an in-depth interview with Variety about the DCEU’s future. It was there Johns stressed the franchise already has stories in store for its biggest female characters.

“We’ve got a lot of plans for our female characters just because they’re great characters,” the executive said.

“There are many wonderful elements to the DC Universe, and one of them is that we have the best female characters, heroes and villains, in the world. No one is going to beat Wonder Woman and Batgirl and Harley Quinn.”

Of course, fans of the DCEU know the franchise has immediate plans in the works for its heroines. Joss Whedon has been tapped to direct a Batgirl movie, and Harley Quinn’s breakout debut in Suicide Squad has garnered her a sequel. Margot Robbie will reprise the psychotic character in a spinoff movie titled Gotham City Sirens which is rumored to feature both Poison Ivy and Catwoman.

With the way things are going, it will not be long before fans get word about a DCEU take on Supergirl. The beloved character has seen her popularity skyrocket as of late thanks to The CW’s standalone show with the heroine. Melissa Benoist brought Kara Zor-El to the small screen and will do so again for a third season. Based on Supergirl’s loyal fandom, the DCEU may bring in the Kryptonian legend to add more female power to its upcoming slate of films.
