The new combat mechanic that is being implemented in the next Dynasty Warriors installation has been dubbed the State Combo System. With this new system, players will be able to utilize three different styles of attacks. These combat methods are known as Trigger Attacks, Flow Attacks and Finish Attacks, and the details of what each one of them would entail were also listed alongside the trailer release to explain what was going on in the gameplay trailer.
“Trigger Attacks allow players to create the start of an explosive combo, leading to Flow Attacks, which adapt to the enemy’s current state,” the description provided to the trailer read. “Successful combos allow for a Finish Attack to be performed, delivering a final blow that eradicates any foes caught in its path. These new enhancements aim to create a thrilling and fluid experience unlike any previous entry in the franchise.”
Aside from those combat mechanics explained, Koei Tecmo has been somewhat reserved with the details about their newest game. We know that it’ll be an open-world experience, one that was elaborated as being the “first true open world” experience in the series.
Another new element of the game that’s been talked about briefly before was also discussed with the trailer’s release, a new Interactive Action system that will allow players to manipulate their environment. You can use this new system to either traverse the terrain quickly, or you can utilize some crafty techniques to take our your enemies.
“Players will be able to fully utilize their surroundings for the first time in the Warriors franchise with the ability to climb buildings and mountains, wield grappling hooks to traverse walls, and make use of objects like oil barrels in battle,” the description read.
As for what system players can expect to receive the game on, all that’s known at this time is that it’ll be available for the PlayStation 4. The “Systems” section of the game’s website is still greyed out though, so there’s a chance that it’ll be announced for additional systems later on, something that Xbox One owners have expressed a desire for.
