Arrow ended season 5 with a bang – more like a big bang – as Adrian Chase/Prometheus blew up all of Lian Yu island with Team Arrow still on it – and Oliver Queen looking on helplessly as his friends may/may not die.

That cliffhanger has sparked all kinds of fan speculation about where Arrow season 6 is headed with its story, starting with the ramifications and fallout of the Lian Yu explosion. At the core of the show, there’s always been one central relationship: the dynamic duo partnering of Oliver Queen/Arrow (Stephen Amell) and John Diggle/Spartan (David Ramsey).
While at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, Comicbook.com had a chance to sit down with Amell and Ramsey (and other Arrow cast members) to talk about the upcoming season, and according to Ramsey, the fallout of the Prometheus storyline will have major impact on Diggle – and not in a good way.

As you can see in the interview above, Ramsey teases a major loss or change for Diggle. Here’s what theย Arrowย actor told us:
“…I think specifically for Diggle; he’s going to lose some things. This relationship [between Oliver and Diggle] is going to change, I think. I’m going to need him in a way I don’t think I’ve needed him before. Some of the mentor/student aspect of our relationship.”
Arrow star Stephen Amell went on to describe a recent season 6 scene they shot, in which he felt things were distinctly inverted, with Oliver playing the role of friend/adviserย to Diggle, much the same way Diggle was that person for Oliver in early season of the show.
All of thisย begs the question: What loss will Diggleย suffer?ย ย
Since Diggle’s wife Lylaย and young son weren’t on Lian Yu (and with theย Arrowย season 6 trailer hinting at a time jump), it stands to reason that the tensions between Lylaย and John could boil over, and they could split up. Or, perhaps the resolution to the Lianย Yu explosion could claim Lyla’sย lifeย in some way, as many fans have theorized that she and her A.R.G.U.S. forcesย could arrive to save the day on Lianย Yu.
