Today Sledgehammer Games finally broke the launch date for the closed Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer beta. According to an official update, the beta will kick off next weekend on PS4 beginning on Friday, August 25 and conclude on August 28 for anyone who pre-ordered the game. A second beta will take place on PS4 and Xbox One September 1-4. Sledgehammer stated that the beta will only contain a very small slice of what players can expect from CoD: WWII‘s at launch, but our gameplay will be providing precious data to for the devs in order to make sure the launch goes as smoothly as possible.
Two of CoD: WWII‘s new and most exciting features will be live for the multiplayer beta: Divisions and War. “First, Divisions replaces the Pick 10 Create-a-Class system, and delivers the fantasy of enlisting in one of five iconic fighting groups in the world’s most brutal conflict. This test of the Private Multiplayer Beta will feature an introduction to a portion of the player’s soldier progression and the underlying foundation of Divisions, and we can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. The final design of this new feature will continue to be fine-tuned as development continues from now through launch.
“Also, we’re excited to hear from you after you’ve played Operation Breakout, our first War Mode experience. War, developed in partnership with our friends at Raven Software, is a new way to play Call of Duty Multiplayer in an immersive Allied vs. Axis fight across the war-torn village of St. Lo, France.”
