Peter Capaldi Confirmed To Return For Doctor Who Series 10
11/02/2015 10:55 am EST
There's never a shortage of rumors circulating around Doctor Who fandom. The show's very nature lends itself to fans counting the days until the next regeneration or new companion.
One such occasion occurred earlier this year, when Jenna Coleman announced she'd be leaving her role as companion Clara Oswald by the end of Series 9. This led to some fan speculation that the current Doctor, Peter Capaldi, would also be leaving. In an interview with Variety, showrunner Steven Moffat assured fans that's not the case.
"Peter Capaldi is going nowhere," Moffat said.
Moffat also attempted to quell fears that the beloved British sci-fi series wouldn't be around much longer.
"It is definitely going to last five more years, I've seen the business plan," he said. "It's not going anywhere. And I think we can go past that. It's television's own legend. It will just keep going."
Doctor Who airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET on BBC America.
