There are a lot of moving pieces in the world of Dragon Ball. The long-running anime hosts dozens of unique characters and have even more intertwining storylines. Since the franchise made its debut in the 1980s, Akira Toriyama has been forced to balance Dragon Ball's expansive canon, and he's done alright for the most part. Today, the franchise still stands as one of the medium's most popular entries, and Goku alone has millions of fans worldwide.
Still, it is surprisingly easy to get mixed up with the franchise's lore. With so many parts to it, Dragon Ball can be hard to keep up with, and its slew of characters are easy to forget. So, if you were wondering why Launch failed to appear pretty much anywhere else aside from the first Dragon Ball anime, then here's your answer:
Akira Toriyama kind-of, sort-of forgot about her. Whoops!
In the past, the vetted artist has opened up about the various pieces of Dragon Ball's past which he's forgotten. During a previous chat on Mandō Kobayashi, Toriyama admitted he wrote the heroine out because he forgot about her for a bit. Then, by the time he remembered Launch, the artist felt her 'bad state' was too similar to the all-powerful Super Saiyan form.
However, Toriyama did confess Launch reentered his mind at one point. The artist included the heroine in his made-up take on Tenshinhan's epilogue life. Toriyama said the martial artist would be found by Launch who "fell in love with him at first sight and has been constantly pursuing his whereabouts." However, it does not seem like the girl is really cut out for farming, so Tenshinhan breaks their romance, but that does not mean Launch is ready to let him go.
Dragon Ball Super recently kicked off the 'Universal Survival' saga. You can check out the brief synopsis for it below:

Dragon Ball Super's "Universal Survival" saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will begin airing the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
