The Dragon Ball franchise has scores of fighters, but Beerus has yet to hype a champion quite like this. Dragon Ball Super‘s dub just released its latest episode, and the update finally introduced a fighter the God of Destruction has been touting.
“The Match Begins! Everyone Head to the Nameless Planet!” ushered the anime into a new arc, but fans were paying more attention to a fighter named Monaka. The hero is one whom Beerus claims to be the strongest fighter he’s ever faced, so Vegeta and Goku were excited to meet the hero. The pair even dipped into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to power up in the face of Monaka, but their introduction to the man did not go over well.
As you can see here, Goku and Vegeta are left wanting by Monaka’s appearance. The man, who is said to be a hero from the planet Wagashi, is rather short and lean. Monaka lacks the muscles which lines the Saiyans, and even Piccolo seems off-put by their teammate. However, Goku tries to give Monaka the benefit of the doubt by greeting him.
Things are awkward between the fighters, and Beerus continues to berate Goku for talking down to their team’s ace. When the pair navigate a conversation about Monaka’s nipples, Monaka prepares to walk away, but Goku stops him…with a punch to the face. Monaka doesn’t dodge the attack, but he also isn’t blown away by the attack. The shrimpy guy simply accepts Goku’s short apology and walks away with a few tears in his eyes.
Dragon Ball Super proved how hard it is to get a read on Monaka. Beerus says the fighter is the strongest he’s ever faced off with, but there is something about the guy that seems off. Fans will have to wait until the tournament between Universe 7 and Universe 6 gets underway to discover his true skill.
Or, if they want, they can always catch up with the manga.
Dragon Ball Super readers and sub-enthusiasts will know just how Monaka fares in during the tournament. Beerus eventually reveals he made of Monaka’s strength to encourage Goku and Vegeta to train. The pink alien is little more than a delivery guy who’s been hired by Beerus, but he did his job well. Vegeta and Goku worked hard to show off to the fighter, so Beerus’ plan worked out in the end.
