A Major 2025 Anime Quietly Claimed a Record No Anime Has Ever Achieved (& It’s Not Demon Slayer)

2025 has been an excellent year for anime, offering fans a wide range of diversity. Some titles have naturally stood out, such as Dragon Ball Daima, which concluded its run earlier this year, while fans were treated to the strongest season of Solo Leveling yet. Although the year began with powerful releases, fall 2025 is also set to deliver major titles, including the highly anticipated final season of My Hero Academia, wrapping up an anime that first aired nearly a decade ago. Still, it’s undeniable that the release of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has been the most anticipated event of the year, with the movie continuing to shatter records even now.

While Demon Slayer has dominated the summer of 2025, other notable releases have also made waves. Though these anime have been praised for their unique qualities, none have achieved what a short-series anime managed this summer. Crunchyroll released what may be its darkest anime in years with Takopi’s Original Sin, a series that resonated with audiences in a way no other anime has before. Celebrated for its powerful storytelling, Takopi’s Original Sin went on to set a record that no anime has ever accomplished.

Takopi’s Original Sin is adapted into anime by Enishiya and TBS, based on the manga of the same name by Taizan 5. The series is a short run of only six episodes, yet each episode has managed to set a record that no anime has ever touched before. Every single episode of Takopi’s Original Sin has secured a rating of over 9 stars on IMDb, a feat unprecedented in anime history. While it may be difficult for longer series with multiple seasons to maintain such consistency, the achievement is still remarkable, especially considering how this anime delivered a steady flow of intrigue that compelled fans to rate each episode so highly.

At its core, Takopi’s Original Sin is a dark anime that delves into raw human emotions, exploring heavy themes such as bullying, depression, suicide, and even murder. What heightens its impact is the focus on children still in primary school, making the story even more unsettling. The shocking twist of seeing Shizuka, one of the main characters, take her own life in the very first episode immediately hooks viewers, leaving them desperate to understand what could have led to such a tragic outcome. Adding another layer of intrigue is the alien Takopi, who struggles to grasp the complexities of human emotions. Through him, the narrative reflects how a child’s limited understanding of the world gradually shapes into a painful, adult-like awareness.

As the series progresses, nearly every Takoipi’s Original Sin episode introduces darker twists that keep audiences gripped and constantly surprised. Ultimately, the anime closes on a deeply heartfelt note, delivering a powerful life lesson. With this balance of shock, emotion, and resonance, it’s no exaggeration to call Takopi’s Original Sin a masterpiece. It proves that while action-heavy series like Demon Slayer remain unparalleled, anime rooted in realistic, emotionally charged themes are connecting with fans on an even deeper level.

Takopi’s Original Sin Is 1 Of The 3 Biggest Animes Of Summer 2025

Takopi’s Original Sin is one of many anime that debuted in the summer of 2025, and while it is clearly among the biggest, if not the biggest, there are other titles that have also stood out. One of the most highly anticipated releases of the season was Dandadan Season 2, which not only met fans’ expectations but may have even surpassed them. While the season is filled with pop-culture references, including a nod to the classic Back to the Future film, its most surprising highlight came from the Hayashi band and the original exorcism songs, which became standout elements of this installment.

Following closely behind is another returning series, Kaiju No. 8. With the manga approaching its conclusion, the second season carries extra weight as it dives deeper into the world’s nuances and introduces what appears to be the final threat for the Defense Force. While its increasingly intense action has been a major draw, this season also added a lighter touch by including fun post-episode segments that reveal more about the characters, similar to Demon Slayer’s “Taisho Era Secret.” Yet, despite the strength of these major summer releases, none have matched the achievement of Takopi’s Original Sin. It serves as a refreshing reminder that an anime with a grounded, emotionally charged narrative can stand tall even among the most action-heavy shonen giants.
