There are just a few days until the new year rolls in, and it looks like Attack on Titan is getting ready for its arrival. 2017 was a long-awaited one for the series, and 2018 will continue the trend with more anime and manga for fans to look forward to. And, if everyone is lucky, they will get a whole lot more Levi out of the deal.

You know, since the creator of Attack on Titan did just share a sketch of the soldier.

Over on Twitter, fans began circulating a recent sketch Hajime Isayama did of Levi in a year-end magazine special. The drawing, which can be found below, shows just how much the artist has improved since he introduced Levi way back when. The black-and-white sketch focuses on Levi from the top as the feared soldier looks upwards, and he's armed to the teeth with swords.

Of course, Levi would not be complete without his trademark sullenness. The soldier would be very expressionless if it were not for his furrowed brows, but hey - living in an apocalyptic world filled with Titans can do that to a man.

Recently, Levi has been missing from Attack on Titan, but it is just a matter of time before the leader makes his way back. The series' manga is on the cusp of a major shift thanks to a surprising infiltration, and Attack on Titan will release its third season next year. The show's key visual for season three put plenty of focus on Levi, so fans can look forward to the soldier's comeback in 2018.

For those unfamiliar with Attack on Titan, the series was originally created by Hajime Isayama. Starting its run in Kondansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2009, the series has been collected into 23 volumes as of 2017. It's set in a world where the last remnants of humanity live within a walled city in order to escape the danger of the Titans, a race of giants monsters that eats humans. Eren Yeager joins the military with his two childhood friends Mikasa and Armin after the Titans break through the wall and attack his hometown.

The series was adapted into an anime from Wit Studio and Production I.G. with a third season premiering in 2018. 68 million copies of the manga have been sold as of 2017, and has been met with major critical and commercial success worldwide.
