Earlier this month, Dragon Ball Super made headlines when the popular anime finally kicked off a brand-new arc. The ‘Universal Survival’ storyline has promised audiences tons of action from surprising characters, and longtime fans were floored when a teaser for the arc introduced a strange warrior. In a brief clip, fans watched as a young girl turned into a raging, female version of what appeared to be Broly. Since the teaser was released, no further images of the warrior have been released, leaving fans to guess about the hero’s powers.

Now, a new image of the ‘Female Broly’ fighter has been released abroad, and it gives fans a clue about the heroine’s transformation.
In the last issue of V Jump magazine, fans found a feature story dedicated to Dragon Ball Super‘s new arc. It was in the pages that fans found a new picture of the strange character, and the ‘Female Broly’ figure looks notably different than before.
In the picture, the female fighter looks ripped, but her bulging Broly-like muscles aren’t anywhere to be seen. As for her eyes, the warrior has color pupils rather than glowing white irises. The character’s face also appears to be sharper while her glowing blond hair arcs back at a lesser angle. Still, it definitely qualifies as gravity-defying.
Netizens have taken to social media to discuss the character’s change, but many have come to an intriguing conclusion; The character may not have undergone any changes at all. In true heroic fashion, many believe the ‘Female Broly’ is in different, graded transformation from what was show in the Dragon Ball Super teaser. Much like how Goku has Super Saiyan 1-3, this new heroine may have various states she must power through to harness her Legendary Saiyan-like gifts.
As for the magazine itself, little information about the fighter and her team is given. The scoop on the fighters simply highlights their mysterious nature and their part in the series’ opening.
So, what do you think? Are you excited to see this new ‘Female Broly’ character come into play? Which Universe 7 fighter do you hope she spars with?
As for the saga’s start date, the new arc premiered on February 5, 2017. The “Universal Survival” saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami airs the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
