Dragon Ball Super’s 89th episode “An Unknown Beauty Appears!” brought Goku back together with classic characters Tien and Master Roshi. But, the episode took fans by surprise as it showed Master Roshi and Tien fighting, and the old pervert ended up beating Tien. Dragon Ball fans took to social media and argued that this proved and confirmed that Master Roshi was stronger than Tien. But one of Dragon Ball Super’s writer, stepped in and clarified the power levels and what happened with Tien and Roshi.

Yoshitaka Toshio took to Twitter to explain that Master Roshi is not actually stronger than Tien, contrary to what the fans assumed. According to the writer, “I think that Tenshinhan is stronger than Roshi. I realize that Roshi got stronger temporarily by witchcraft”. Check out his response in the tweet below:

It looks like the writer has some upcoming plans for Tien, as it looks like the character has higher power ranking than shown on the show. The show is now ramping up for the ‘Universal Survival’ action, but it looks like the anime may kill off some characters before the saga gets into the swing. Dragon Ball Super‘s ‘Universal Survival’ arc will soon see most of the multiverse go head-to-head to protect their homes. Universes 7 and 11 have already been put to the test in exhibition rounds, but the arc’s other universes have yet to prove their worth. Universe 9 has done little in terms of narrative to make it standout, but the universe’s God of Destruction just put a huge target on its back.

The synopsis of Dragon Ball Super‘s current saga can be read here:

“According to an invitation that Goku gets, Zen-Oh (Omni King) is starting a martial arts tournament between all the universes called “Chikara no Taikai” (Tournament of Power). But it is the beginning of universal destruction. Something awaits the winners and losers of this tournament. What will become of this fierce team battle between each universe’s elite warriors?”

Dragon Ball Super‘s “Universal Survival” saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will begin airing the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
