My Hero Academia has had a busy week in worlds of both anime and manga. News broke yesterday that the anime was getting a third season, but manga readers may have been too busy crying to notice. After all, the latest chapter of My Hero Academia seems to have killed off a favorite pro-hero.

Sorry, Sir Nighteye. Please don’t be dead.

If you have caught up with My Hero Academias new chapter, then you know what came of the profession. The man, who used to be All Might’s sidekick, came face-to-face with Chisaki in a battle. The psychotic villain was determined to retrieve Eri from Izuku and his gang to keep experiment with her quirk, but Sir Nighteye used himself to distract the villain.

The hero’s efforts seem to have worked; Izuku was able to get himself and Eri away from the battle, but Mirio made the small mistake of looking back. In the midst of battle, Sir Nighteye used his Foresight quirk to see what Chisaki would do next. The battle went poorly, and the pro-hero decided to break a rule of his. He looked further into the future to see if Izuku’s gang would survive the battle, but Sir Nighteye was impaled by Chisaki’s attacks because of the distraction. Mirio could only watch as his mentor had his arm severed and torso stabbed through before Chisaki rushed towards Izuku.

There’s no confirmation of whether Sir Nighteye did die, but the odds don’t look good. The hero doesn’t have the stamina All Might had when he survived his second run-in with All For One, but Izuku isn’t ready to let his mentor die. The hero manages to activate his Full Cowl and raise it to 20% power. When Chisaki chides the boy for fighting still, Izuku says he won’t let Sir Nighteye’s prediction be his fate. He promises to bend the future if that is what it takes.
