Looking at the synopsis, fans of the Naruto series will immediately notice one important detail: the anime appears to take place before the boy got his own movie. Boruto: Naruto the Movie was set after the young ninja had become a genin and was well on his way into entering the Chunin Exams. However, the synopsis hints that Boruto will be younger in the anime at first. The description specifically states Boruto must “enroll” in the ninja academy and meet “new friends.”

Of course, it seems somewhat strange to hear Boruto will meet new friends given his parents’ connection in the village. Many of his classmates are children of Konoha’s original heroes, so fans may have expected Naruto to have introduced his son to everyone. Aside from Mitsuki, characters like Sarada are directly situated within Naruto’s inner circle, so fans may get to see see how Boruto interacts with his comrades during his younger years.
