Yu-Gi-Oh! Creator Draws Mind-Blowing Yugi Sketch In Virtual Reality

The creator of Yu-Gi-Oh! is the kind of manga artist fans are grateful for. Not only is Kazuki Takahashi active within his franchise’s fandom, but the artist likes to share behind-the-scenes sketches with his followers online. Through social media, Takahashi has become a source for cute, canon artwork of fierce Duel Monsters and heroes like Yugi Muto.

Now, Takahashi has gifted fans with a very special present over on Instagram. Earlier today, the artist decided to share a video of himself drawing in realtime on a digital platform that uses virtual reality tech. Takahashi chose to upload the stream for fans to thank them for supporting his anime‘s latest feature, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions.

“Thank you to all the fans who have watched Yu-Gi-Oh movie ~~ thanks!” he wrote.

In the video, fans can watch as Takahashi sketches out Yugi in a 3D space. The artist first starts with the protagonist’s face and eccentric hair before moving down; Yugi’s hands and limbs are then blocked out. And, by the end of the video, fans are shown just how the piece uses its virtual reality tech to make something mind-blowing.

“I tried using Tilt Brush for this VR painting. Line and light expression is a fun tool!” Takahashi captioned the video. “I got a question [about] Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, the next animation series with a VR connection….The animation team is designing [its main] character. I think I will also watch the next series!”
