Image Comics Teases The Dream Merchant

In a new, visual press release earlier today, Image Comics teased a new title from creators Nathan Edmondson and Konstantin Novosadov, with the tagline "Dreams have meaning." Truthfully, the title of the comic--The Dream Merchant--isn't actually something that was revealed in the Image graphic. Rather, it's found on a Tumblr for the series, which encourages readers to submit their own dreams in order to gain access to teasers for the series. (I submitted one myself: when I was a kid, I had a nightmare that I still can picture to this day, where Webster--NOT the actor, the character--came to me and then turned into a werewolf and chased me through the house. Shown at right is the image that kernel of my childhood unlocked.)

It's a unique way of marketing the book, certainly; not only is it a great idea for a Tumblr, but it gives the reader a sense of investment and involvement that's difficult to foster on the Internet, where EVERYBODY wants you to like them or follow them. The series will kick off in May.
