Negan, the villain of the currently-ongoing “All-Out War” arc in Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard’s The Walking Dead, is incredibly close to being locked in for the AMC television adaptation of the book. While they’ve frequently spoken of a desire to bring the character in, it seems now that there’s a plan coming into focus for when and how Negan might be brought in — although it’s not for a while yet.”[Showrunner] Scott [Gimple] and I are always talking about who we would put in that, it’s definitely on our minds, and there are definitely a lot of candidates,’ Kirkman told MTV of bringing the villain to the small screen. “But I wouldn’t expect Negan too terribly soon, although he is definitely in the plan. It’s a 99% lock that he’s going to be in the show eventually, so be on the lookout for that.”Asked whether current AMC standout Jon Hamm — rumored to be playing Stephen Strange in Marvel’s Doctor Strange adaptation — might be a fit for the role, Kirkman said it was unlikely.”He’s not tall enough! That’s a joke. I think Jon Hamm would be perfect,” Kirkman said. “I think after Mad Men has run, Jon Hamm is going to have a Tom Hanks level film career, so I don’t think he’ll be coming back to television anytime soon. Although that would be cool!”The Walking Dead returns in October on AMC. “All-Out War,” which features Negan, concludes in two weeks from Image Comics.
