Just days into 2017 and it is already poised to be a huge year for anime. Fans can expect new seasons of popular series’, live action movie adaptations of Death Note as well as Full Metal Alchemist, and also the beginning of various new series and movies.

One more exciting addition to the line-up will be premiering immediately, as the first season of Akiba’s Trip The Animation will air on Jan. 4, 2017.

Funimation will be launching the English Dub only 30 minutes after its TV broadcast in Japan. Funimation also announced that going forward, it will continue to broadcast Akiba’s Trip as close to broadcast time in Japan as possible, striving for a 30-minute window.

Akiba’s Trip The Animation is based off a hit game, and is set in the Otaku Mecca of Akihabara. In the series, there are evil Vampires lurking in the anime shopping area of Akihabara and preying on the social energy of tourists and locals. The show follows Tamotsu Denkigai, as he nearly dies to one of these mysterious vampires, but is saved by a mysterious heroine – Matome Mayonaka. They form a group to protect the Streets against the evil that can only be stopped by direct sunlight.

Akiba’s Trip The Animation is available to watch on January 4, 2017 on Funimation and with a premium user suscription on Crunchy Roll, or Jan 11, 2017 on Crunchy Roll as a free user.
