Considering that Alien is one of the most coveted films of all time, this is not much of a surprise. What was a surpirse is how horrifyingly perfect the first trailer for Alien: Covenant is.

Fans flocked to social media and hit that share button more times than we can count as soon as the official first look teaser was released on Christmas Eve.

Most likely because fans have been waiting for the trailer after numerous teaser images and details about the new Alien movie.

According to a report by Variety, “Ridley Scott’s sci-fi thriller “Alien: Covenant” topped social media buzz last week with an impressive 63,000 new conversations, according to media-measurement firm comScore and its PreAct service.”

In other shocking news, the Emoji movie from Sony also topped the charts of social media buzz.

Yes, the movie about those cute little icons that we use in text conversations that have since krept up and taken over pop culture left and right are getting their very own big-screen adaptation.

Again According to a report from Variety, “Sony’s animated “The Emoji Movie” was almost as popular with nearly 61,000 new conversations last week after releasing a teaser clip and character images on Dec. 21.”

Alright, we admit that The Emoji Movie does look sort of fun and according to social media buzz, so do a lot of other people!

However, you just can’t beat the hype for Alien: Covenant as fans have been waiting since the release of Prometheus to find out how the film will bridge the gap in the franchise.
